PlanTape Android
Measure distances and areas on a PDF floor plan, on site, without a laptop.
Android: free to try, one-time unlock €4,99, no subscription · looking for the iPhone version?
PlanTape turns your phone into a take-off tool. Open a PDF floor plan or construction drawing, set the scale once and tap points to measure lengths, areas and counts. PlanTape then works out what to order: wall area from a run and a height, pour volume from an area and a thickness, openings deducted, a waste allowance on top. Export an annotated PDF and a CSV list. One purchase, no subscription. Everything stays on your phone: no account, no cloud.
From Measurement To Order Quantity
- Wall take-off: give a length run a height and one or both faces and it also becomes a board, paint or tiling area: run × height × faces. Doors and windows come off every face, typed as a size and a quantity
- One ceiling height for the whole drawing: type it once and hand it to every run you have already traced in one tap. A run with a height of its own keeps it
- Pour take-off: give an area a thickness and it also becomes a volume, net of anything cut out of it. For concrete, screed, insulation fill or topsoil, in m³ or in cubic yards
- Waste allowance: add 5, 10, 15 or 20% and every length, area and volume total also shows the quantity to order, next to the measured number
Set The Scale
- Tap both ends of a distance you already know (a dimension line, a 0.9 m door) and type its real length: in metres, or the way an imperial drawing writes it, such as 12'6", 12'-6 1/2" or 12.5
- Or pick the printed scale: 1:20, 1:25, 1:50, 1:75, 1:100 or 1:200
- One scale for a whole multi-page set, or switch that off and give a detail sheet its own
Measure By Tapping
- Length: tap along a run and watch the running value
- Area: tap the corners and you get both the area and the perimeter
- Count: tally doors, outlets or fixtures. A count needs no scale at all, so you can start before you calibrate
- Snap puts a new point on an existing corner or on the nearest 45° axis. Turn it off for an edge that really is at an angle
- The nudge pad walks the point you just placed into position step by step
- Deduct an opening from an area: tap round a stair void or an island and it comes off. You see gross, deducted and net
- Pinch to zoom and pan. Metric or imperial, with feet and inches rounded to the fraction you choose
Totals And Export
- Rename every measurement and put it in a group: Flooring, Walls, Paint, Ceiling or a name of your own
- Running totals for the whole drawing, plus a subtotal per group
- Export an annotated PDF: your lines, areas and count markers burned into the original sheets, followed by a summary with all values and totals
- Send only the sheets you measured. Every sheet that goes keeps its number from the full set
- Export a CSV with name, group, type, page, value, unit and perimeter, ready for your spreadsheet
- Save the files where you want with Android's own save dialog, or share them straight from the app
Private
Everything happens on your phone. No account, no server, no ads, no tracking. Your drawings are never uploaded. A sample plan set is built in (three sheets, two of them drawn to scale), so you can try the whole flow without a file at hand.
Good To Know
- PlanTape reads PDF drawings, not DWG, DXF or images
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Save a copy without the password first
- You set the scale yourself. There is no automatic detection, and every value follows the scale you set
- Verify critical dimensions on site before you order or build
Price
Import as many plans as you like, set the scale and make three measurements per drawing for free. A one-time purchase removes that limit and turns on the PDF and CSV export. No subscription.
